The purpose of this committee
is to promote educational and cultural exchanges
with other cities, in particular Independence, MO
who was instrumental in the westward migration and
the development of the Oregon Trail.The
committee was established by Resolution No. 88-3
on February 3, 1988; residency was deleted by Resolution
No. 88-19 on April 14, 1988, and name change was
made by Resolution No. 88-51 on August 8, 1988.The committee is comprised of seven members
with no residence or demographic requirements.Length
of term is three years.The
Mayor appoints the members.
