Moisture Content Acknowledgement Form

Purpose of the rule:
This rule clarifies the requirements for contractors or owner-builders documenting moisture content in
construction materials and providing that information to the local jurisdiction.

This rule is effective October 1, 2008.
Citation:
Amend: OAR 918-480-0010
Repeal: Temporary rule OAR 918-480-0010

Effect of the rule:
The rule eliminates the confusion and disruption previously associated with the moisture content check
requirement in the 2008 Oregon Residential Specialty Code. Contractors must provide written
notification to the local jurisdiction that the moisture content of wood framing members does not exceed
19%. Contractors or owner-builders must acknowledge that they are aware of and have taken steps to
meet the requirements of the moisture content check on a division-approved form. The rule also clarifies
that moisture content of wood framing members is not subject to inspection by the local jurisdiction.
