Welcome to Mountain View Cemetery

  • City of Oregon City

Mt. View Cemetery's annual Spring Cleanup is here! The event will be held Friday, May 4th from 8am - noon. Participating in community projects is a great way to get to know the people in our neighborhood and our fellow citizens in the community. Free lunch and refreshments will be provided for all volunteers. Please call our office for more information or to sign-up for the event.

Welcome to our first quarterly edition of our Cemetery Celebrities page. As one of the oldest documented cemeteries in the West, Mountain View Cemetery has countless well-known figures located here. In honor of our famous residents we have decided to feature one person of interest, each quarter, and share some of our cemetery's rich history with you. You will find our first honoree listed under the Activities and Events tab.

  • On December 9, 2011 Springwater Environmental Science School devoted their time to a Community Service Day at Mountain View Cemetery. Several students and their parents came to Mt. View Cemetery to spread mulch on a very cold December morning. Kate, Lucy, Liam, Grace and Patience assisted by parent volunteers Phil, Karen and Rebecca worked very hard to help cemetery personnel. The time and patronage is very much appreciated by the Mt. View Cemetery staff. Thank you, Springwater Environmental Science School and volunteer staff.

Cemetery office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Gates open at dawn and close at dusk seven days a week.
Our historic cemetery section is the resting place for a number of well-known figures in early Oregon history. Monuments and family plots for Peter Skene Ogden, Colonel W. L. White, L. D. C. Latourette, and Charles Barlow stand in silent tribute. As with all areas of Mountain View Cemetery, visitors are welcome to stroll through this peaceful, serene area.
