Oregon City-Metro Enhancement Committee Grant Meeting

The Oregon City-Metro Enhancement Committee (OC-MEC) will meet on May 29, 2012 to review and approve proposals for the 2012-13 grant cycle. The review meeting will be held at City Hall, 625 Center Street starting at 5:30 pm in the Commission chambers. The committee is comprised of nine members appointed by and including the Mayor, city commissioners, three citizens and Metro Councilor Carlotta Collette.

The grant program was created in 1988 as part of an agreement between the City and Metro. It funds projects that result in the rehabilitation, improvement and enhancement of areas within the city and/or provides opportunities that benefit residents of the city. The program compensates the community affected by Metro South Station, the garbage transfer station at the corner of Highway 213 and Washington Street, Oregon City. The fund is generated by a 50-cent per ton surcharge collected on garbage disposed of at the station.

This year the OC-MEC received sixteen grant applications totaling requests of $237,995.00 and includes the following:

  1. $ 18,350 - Clackamas County Dog Services—Project PETS: Prevent, Educate, Train and Support
  2. $ 10,000 - Clackamas County Historical Society—Stevens Crawford House Exterior Paint and Garage Project
  3. $ 9,825 - Earth Crusaders/Oregon City School District—Downtown Heritage Enhancements
  4. $ 24,050 - Greater Oregon City Watershed Council—Newell Creek Enhancement Project
  5. $ 25,000 - John McLoughlin Elementary School PTSO—Track Rehabilitation Project
  6. $ 15,000 - Main Street Oregon City—Downtown Oregon City: In a Whole New Light
  7. $ 13,400 - McLoughlin Neighborhood Association—Safe Streets Project
  8. $ 7,000 - Oregon City Code Enforcement—2012 Earth Day and Enhancement Projects
  9. $ 11,418 - OC Farmers Market—29 Downtown Markets
  10. $ 18,352 - OCHS Construction Class—Clackamette Park Kiosk and Wesley Lynn Pergola and Covered Area
  11. $ 2,100 - Oregon City Library Foundation—Kickoff Fall Fundraiser
  12. $ 8,500 - Oregon City Lions Club—Strides Program for Diabetes Awareness
  13. $ 25,000 - Oregon City Swim Team—Municipal Pool Electronic Message and Display Board
  14. $ 15,000 - Parents of Murdered Children—Memorial Garden
  15. $ 20,000 - We Love Clean Rivers—River Cleanup Ripple Effect Art Sculpture
  16. $ 15,000 - Willamette Falls Heritage Area Coalition—Willamette Falls Heritage Tour
