Parking Enforcement Officer

Salary: $14.41 – $19.80/hr.

AFSCME Union non-exempt position plus fringe benefits including City paid PERS (6%) pickup.

Position:  City of Oregon City Code Enforcement is recruiting for a Parking Enforcement Officer. This is an AFSCME represented position, which is non-sworn and not part of law enforcement. The Parking Enforcement Officer reports to the Code Enforcement Manager. The Parking Enforcement Officer enforces the City’s parking ordinances by patrolling timed parking spaces in the downtown core. This position issues citations or notices for vehicle parking violations; services parking meters as needed, collects revenue from meters; may appear in municipal court to defend issuance of citations; respond to and resolve citizen inquiries and complaints as they relate to downtown parking; and other related duties as assigned. This position is a non-sworn, non-law enforcement position.

Requirements/Qualifications of the ideal candidate include the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; 1 year of experience in Parking Enforcement is desirable. Requires a high school diploma or GED. Requires a valid driver’s license that includes a limited motorcycle endorsement (or the ability to obtain the endorsement within 6 weeks of employment) and a good driving record. Requires the ability and knowledge to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined on the attached job description. This job requires walking for approximately 99% of the work day and working outside in the elements on a daily basis. This job also requires the ability to carry at least 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
