Oregon City Human Resource Department
The Human Resources Department works with the City Manager, department directors and employees in areas of recruitment, classification, compensation, training, benefits, labor/employee relations and related human resource functions. Police Officer - Entry Level

Salary: $24.06 - $29.01/hr. plus benefits (additional 5% for Intermediate and 10% for Advanced DPSST Certification; and other incentives)

Application: City Application, Police Test Application, Supplemental Questions and a non-refundable fee of $13.00 (cash, money order, Visa or Master Card) must accompany your application packet (PERSONAL CHECKS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED). Application packets must be RECEIVED NO LATER THAN 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2010 (postmarked packets will not be accepted). Required forms are located at the bottom of this announcement.  Completed application packets are to be turned into City of Oregon City Human Resources, 625 Center Street, (P.O. Box 3040) Oregon City, OR 97045. Applications received after the filing deadline or without all required forms filled out and signed will not be considered.

The Oregon City Police Department is accepting applications for Entry Level Police Officer, with preference being given to currently employed Lateral Officers.

Candidates must:

 Be a United States citizen, and at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
 Be a high school graduate or equivalent.
 Be free of any criminal convictions, except for minor traffic violations.
 Possess or be able to obtain valid Oregon Driver’s License and have a good driving record.
 Pass an extensive background investigation.
 Have basic computer literacy and keyboard skills.
 Be able to perform the physical requirements associated with the position, including the ability to walk,
    run, jump, stand, lift, sit, restrain combative individuals, drive for long periods of time, and other
    physical requirements as determined by DPSST.
 Have the ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
 Be able to resolve situations by making appropriate decisions in highly stressful, rapidly deteriorating
    and violent situations; and respect diversity.

Process: The written examination for Police Officer is scheduled for Saturday, February 20, 2010, at the Providence Willamette Falls Health Education Center, 519 Fifteenth Street in Oregon City. The examination begins PROMPTLY at 9:00 a.m. There are NO OTHER test dates available. To establish an eligibility list, those candidates who pass the written exam will be scheduled for physical agility testing and interviews at a time to be announced later.
