Utility Maintenance Team Leader - Street Division

Position City of Oregon City Public Works is recruiting for a Utility Maintenance Team Leader to coordinate, schedule, lead and perform a variety of skilled to general work in connection with the construction, repair and maintenance of the Street/Roadway systems and related public works infrastructure.  The Utility Maintenance Team Leader position works directly for the Public Works Operations Supervisor in the Street Division.  The Oregon City Street Division is responsible for operating and maintaining over 135 miles of streets. Within the city limits there are an additional 10 miles of County roads, 8 miles of private streets, and 11 miles of State of Oregon highways.

 

Description The successful candidate will be working side by side with other division employees including the Supervisor, Public Works Operations Manager and others. The Street Division is one of 4 operations divisions including Water, Sewer, Storm, and the Street Division.  When fully staffed the Oregon City Public Works Department includes a total of 37 employees.

 

Minimum Qualifications The City of Oregon City is seeking an energetic individual who has demonstrated the ability to lead, direct, train and perform the most advanced and complex maintenance tasks in addition to assuming lead supervisory responsibilities in the Street Division.  The team leader will help to organize, plan, review, and lead the maintenance and construction of the City’s street/transportation system.  The qualified individual will have the skills and ability to train assigned employees in maintenance and repair methods and techniques related to street repair and maintenance activities. 

 

Preference will be given to candidates who can show a record of success with past the responsibilities including

1) coordinating crew scheduling and overall crew productivity; 2) supporting customer requests and community events; 3) estimating work flow needs and materials costs, and 4) administering computerized data collection and recording.

 

Applicants are expected to bring to the position a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five years of increasingly responsible experience in Street/Transportation system maintenance and operation.  Requires the ability work as a contributing member of a team, work productively and cooperatively with other teams and external customers and convey a positive image of the City.  Requires a Class A driver’s license with N endorsement.
