Frequently Asked Questions about Library2Go
1. What is the difference between an audiobook and an eBook?
3. How do I return titles when I’m finished?
-
Audiobook titles will automatically return themselves at the end of the lending period. They cannot be returned early.
-
Non-kindle eBooks can be returned early. Click here for instructions.
-
Kindle eBooks can be returned early by finding the title in the "Manage Your Kindle" section of the Amazon website, clicking the "action" button next to the title and choosing the "Return this book" option.
4. Why do I have to put holds on titles if it’s all electronic? Why aren’t they available all the time?
-
Because of copyright issues (known in this case as Digital Rights Management), the library pays a licensing fee for each “copy” of an electronic book it wishes to offer to its patrons. Just like our physical collection, we will purchase more licenses or “copies” for popular titles to meet the demand. If we have purchased 7 “copies” of a title, and 7 people have it checked out at the same time, Library2Go will offer you the chance to place a hold on the title. Once the title becomes available, you will receive an email letting you know, and you will then have three days to download it.
5. How long can I check things out for?
-
Audiobooks can be checked out for 7 or 14 days. EBooks can be checked out for 7, 14, or 21 days. You may specify your lending period during the checkout process by clicking on the “Lending Period” drop down box. Downloaded titles cannot be renewed, but you may check them out again at the end of the lending period if they are available.
6. When I check out audiobooks and eBooks, do they appear on my regular library account with the other items I have checked out?
-
No, you will need to log in to Library2Go to check on the titles and due dates of your downloaded items.
7. Can I transfer eBooks to my Kindle eReader?
