Peace is Necessary: US Japan POW Friendship Program
Monday, March 13 @ 7:00pm
Oregon City Public Library

Peace is Necessary! This is the message Maureen Cole brought home from a recent trip to Japan where she participated in the US/Japan POW Friendship Program. This 5 year program is a reconciliation effort; a collaboration between the US State Department and the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The goal of the program is to explore the history of the US POW experience and ensure that it is not forgotten. The ultimate goal is to build peace and friendship between Japan and the US and to remind ourselves why war must be avoided. Maureen went to Japan with her mother to learn more about her own father’s POW experience.  Join us for this opportunity to learn more about this program.
