Statement of Significance: Alex Simmons was born in Indiana in 1848. He moved to Iowa and married Luella Brown. Before moving to Oregon in 1889, the Simmonses lived in Kansas. Mr. Simmons was a bricklayer and plasterer. Mrs. Brown was born in Iowa in 1856. Although the siding has been altered, this house is a good example of the vernacular T-Plan house which was so prevalent in the Oregon City area. The house occupies a position which affords the resident a view of Atkinson Park.
