816 S. McLoughlin Blvd. - Isaac Beals House c.1865

Statement of Significance: Isaac Beals was a millwright, and, apparently, a riverboat owner. Beals was born in New York in 1811; his wife, Roxanna, was a native of Vermont, born in 1814. They had two sons. Beals built the New Era Roller Mill, a grist mill located at New Era, in 1868. The mill was powered by Beaver and Parrot Creeks. In 1876, he sold the mill to George Knight of the Aurora Colony. The house is significant for its age, for its association with Beals, and for its possible association with J.M. Frazer, a prominent local citizen. The house's style is typical Oregon City vernacular.
