This one-story, concrete building is faced with brick veneer and decorated with polished granite around the windows, doors, and canopy. The main entrance is exaggerated in height and recessed with surrounds of polished granite tiles which project slightly from the building wall surface. A modest canopy, with a slight curvature, extends from the building above the doorway. Three small, square windows are located along the front wall. A bank of windows pierces the side [south) elevation. Nine tall windows are surrounded by one projecting decorative element, also of granite. A drive-up window is located on the rear (west) of the building. A planter box is located below the windows on the front of the building.
Statement of Significance: Built in 1956, the U.S. National Bank building has a very high degree of original integrity. Unfortunately, it is not yet historic and, therefore, would not be considered a contributing resource in a historic district. If, however, a district were to be designated in 2006 or later, this building - if it remains unchanged from today - would be a contributing resource as an excellent example of architecture from that time period. Because the building is not yet historic, little information about it was gathered and further research is warranted.
