Statement of Significance: Title on this property is obscured. However, current owner and long-time resident Florence Turner claims this house was built by "Fred Shannon's father" who "went over the Falls with the Freemans." Fact: An L. Shannon, along with Jim, George and G.W. Freeman, attempted to traverse the Willamette in a rowboat in 1898. All were drowned when the boat was swept over the Falls. The house is significant for its age and has some interest in its association with Shannon who lost his life when rowing to work across the Willamette in 1989. It is too heavily altered, however, to merit heavy significance.
