This building is irregular shaped with a long, relatively narrow portion along the south property line and a shorter, boxier portion sitting perpendicular to the longer part at the west end of the building. Alterations over time have created a mixture of square and curved forms sheathed with stucco and large expanses of glass. A curvilinear canopy was added to create a drive-through window for the First Interstate Bank, which occupied the building at the time of the 1983 survey. This drive-through has since been enclosed to create additional office space. The lot has extensive landscaping, with lots of trees and shrubs in front of the building and in the parking area.
Statement of Significance: This building was constructed in 1949 as the new Safeway Store. Photos from 1957 show portions of this building in which it appears to have had a somewhat "Moderne" appearance. It clearly no longer resembles these photos and is more characteristic of a 1970s or 1980s building. At the time of the 1983 survey, the building was occupied by the First Interstate Bank, who may have been responsible for the initial alterations. The building is currently occupied by the Neighbors of Woodcraft. Because of the substantial alterations, it is no longer eligible as a contributing resource in a historic district.
