Narrative of Incident:

It has been almost two years, April 20, 2002, since skeletal human remains were located in a small creek in the Newel Creek Canyon by some volunteer searchers. The forensic anthropologist determined that the remains were from a white male adult. The estimated height is between 69 and 72 inches. Time of death was undetermined but was believed to be a significant period of time since death. The Oregon State Crime lab has found DNA and it is on file. The DNA has been compared to two missing persons with negative results.

 

Clothing and personal items that have been retrieved are as follows:

•  1 multi-colored Windbreaker brand jacket

•  1 Levi-Strauss wool lined jacket size 42

•  1 brown leather jacket

•  1 MacGregor brand gray and red long sleeve shirt

•  1 brown leather belt size 34, click here to see design on belt

•  Original Rugged Outback brown leather boot size 9 1/2W

•  1 pair of Levi jeans

•  1 green plastic coin pouch with “Oregon Trail” and the dates “1843-1993” on it

•  12 keys consisting of 2 Ford vehicle keys

•  1 Kershaw folding knife with a rubber handle, and

•  1 black comb.
