People always ask what makes a good police officer and it is really a combination of many things. Our team is made up of men and women from different areas and backgrounds, all contributing to the common goal of serving our community in Oregon City. The process to become a police officer at our department is competitive, but the reward is a challenging, fun career that brings a different set of challenges every day.

We value motivated, energetic candidates that have a combination of life experience and education. While most of our candidates in recent years have four year college degrees, we have had success with people that demonstrate through their life experience that they are empathetic to people, that they work hard, and are able to think on their feet—traits that make good police officers.
