We,
the members of the Oregon City Police Department, are committed
to providing quality public safety services to our unique community. It is our
duty to maintain public order, protecting lives and property, while preserving
the legal rights of all individuals and recognizing and respecting the diversity
of our community. In pursuit of our overall mission, we are dedicated to maintaining
and improving on the high standard of safety and livability that exists in our
community, so that residents and visitors alike continue to feel safe and secure,
and do not live in fear of becoming victims of crime.
We
are committed to the philosophy of Community Oriented Policing. By developing
community partnerships our department and community become empowered to solve
problems and seek creative solutions. This often will involve helping citizens
with problems that may go beyond the traditional range of police duties. Through
involvement and visibility in our community we are better able to adapt and
respond to changing community standards and needs. We have a responsibility
to help deter crime through pro-active programs that emphasize education, prevention
and cooperation.
It
is our vision to be identified as a model law enforcement agency; a leader in
the field which others seek to emulate. A full-service department that is innovative,
caring and compassionate, committed to excellence and diversity, progressive
and professional. We are dedicated to maintaining the highest ethical standards
as embraced in the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics. We strive to be an agency
that presents a professional image, welcomes change and evolution, and takes
advantage of technological advances that enhance our efficient delivery of services.
Our
personal and organizational values demand a work environment that is based on
trust and mutual respect, and encourages communication and the expression of
differing opinions. As an organization, we are committed to recruiting and retaining
quality employees, providing career development, training, and educational opportunities
so that each of us has the tools and information available that enables us to
do the best possible job.
We
believe it is important to be a positive influence in our community, to lead
by example, and be a role model for our youth. We are proud of our 150 years
of police service to our community and are dedicated to providing for its safety
in the new millennium. |
