Amtrak Station moved!

On April 28, 2010, the historic SPRR freight depot was moved to its new home at the Oregon City Amtrak Station at 1757 Washington Street.  The move was part of the 2nd phase of the South Metro Amtrak Station project.

Phase 1 of the project included construction of the rail platform, entrance to the site, “green” storm water infrastructure, all other utilities, and limited parking.

Phase 2 provides for relocation of the historic depot onto a raised platform above the flood plain and completion of a 50-space parking lot.

The Depot Building was originally constructed in the early 1920s, and located on the south side of Abernethy Creek near 16th Street.  In the mid 1970’s the building was moved to the St. Johns area in north Portland.  Historic Properties LLC purchased the building in 1986 and moved the structure back to Oregon City at 1709 Washington Street where it has functioned as office space.  The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2010.
