Public Notice of Recall Election

Oregon City will be holding a November 10, 2020 Recall Election.

On June 22, 2020 the City's Elections Official received a Petition for Recall (SEL 350), Cover Sheet (SEL 353), Signature Sheet (SEL 351), Electronic Signature Sheet (SEL 349), and Agent Authorization (SEL 307) calling for the recall of Mayor Dan Holladay. The petition was approved and ready to circulate on June 23, 2020.

Pursuant to Oregon Revised Statute (ORS) 249.870

The requisite number of signers on a recall petition is 15% of the total votes cast in the electoral district for all candidates for Governor at the most recent election at which a candidate for Governor was elected to a full term next preceding the filing of the petition for verification of signatures.

Process

There were 15,997 votes cast in the November 2018 General Election, which lead to 2,400 valid signatures required to be collected by 5 pm on September 21, 2020. On October 1, 2020, Clackamas County Election's Office verified that the Chief Petitioner had submitted 3,037 valid Oregon City elector signatures for the recall petition.

Mayor Dan Holladay had 5 days to resign in writing or file the Statement of Justification (SEL 352). On October 6, 2020, Mayor Dan Holladay submitted the Statement of Justification.

The City's Elections Official files with Clackamas County's Election's Office calling for a Special Recall Election on November 10, 2020 with the ballot question as follows: Do you vote to recall Dan Holladay from the office of Mayor?
