706 4th Street

This one story house sits under a side gable roof with a second gable projecting out from the north side of the house to cover the main entry. A shed roof extension of the main gable covers the east end of this porch, where the eave is supported by tapered square columns set on a solid balustrade. The balustrade, like the rest of the house, is clad with lap siding. The gables feature open eaves with wide barge boards and knee brackets. The windows are predominantly 1/1 double-hung wood sash, but the north side windows have been replaced with fixed wood sashes. A one car garage is set into the house at the basement level on the northeast corner, featuring six-pane-over-three-panel out-swinging doors. The retaining walls lining the driveway are replacements of the original walls. A low basalt retaining wall faces the street on the north side of the house, which also features an exterior chimney and cantilevered bay on the east side.
