About Mountain View Cemetery
Cemetery office hours are:
Monday through Friday
8 am to 4 pm
Gates open at dawn and close at dusk seven days a week.
Our historic cemetery section is the resting place for a number of well-known figures in early Oregon history. Monuments and family plots for Peter Skene Ogden, Colonel W L. White, L. D. C. Latourette, and Charles Barlow stand in silent tribute. As with all areas of Mountain View Cemetery, visitors are welcome to stroll through this peaceful, serene area.
- What are placement costs?
-
Placement costs, also called opening and closing costs, are labor and administrative fees associated with opening and closing of a grave, crypt or niche. The placement fee is the responsibility of the representative of the family and must be paid in full 3 business days before the day of burial. Placement fees are due at the time of coordinating for a burial and cannot be paid as part of a pre-payment plan through the Cemetery.
- Do you allow cremation burials on existing graves?
-
Yes, one ground casket burial lot will accommodate a maximum of one casket and 4 cremation burials, or a combination of cremains and bronze inscription vases to equal 4. The full body burial must take place before any cremation burials, unless the first cremation is placed under where the headstone will sit.
- How far in advance must a service be scheduled?
-
The office requires a 2 to 3 business days notice for all for casket and cremation. Specific date and time must be coordinated through both the Cemetery and Funeral Home.
