Oregon City, ORE. – The City of Oregon City’s Parks and Recreation Director announced recently that he is leaving his position with the City after accepting another opportunity elsewhere.

“I’ve enjoyed my time with Oregon City,” said Kendall Reid. “I am leaving with valuable experiences that will stay with me throughout my career. I will always cherish the relationships I have formed and the memories we have created together.”

Reid has served as the Parks and Recreation Director for four years. During this time, he supervised the construction of new parks, such as Tyrone S. Woods and Hazel Grove Park, and oversaw the redevelopment of Latourette Park. These projects were particularly challenging as they were completed in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Another project he oversaw during his tenure was the renovation of the Veterans Memorial Plaza in Mountain View Cemetery, providing a gathering place for the community to honor veterans.

City officials said they will miss Reid’s expertise and knowledge of parks and recreation management. “I was saddened to receive Kendall’s resignation,” said City Manager Tony Konkol. His leadership has been a tremendous asset to the community, and he’s helped the department make great strides forward despite what has often been a challenging environment.”

Reid’s last day will be Sept. 2. Recently appointed Deputy Parks and Recreation Director Tom Kissinger will oversee the department’s day-to-day operations during the transition. Assistant City Manager Alex Rains will also fill any administrative duties when needed.
