[ARCHIVED] Oregon City Opens Second Round of Applications For Community Enhancement Grants

Oregon City, ORE. – Oregon City-based nonprofits who missed out on the chance to apply for the Metro Enhancement Grant have another opportunity, as a second round has opened.

The Metro Enhancement Grant is funded by Metro from a $1 per ton surcharge collected at refuse transfer stations. That revenue is returned to the community in which the stations are located in the form of the Enhancement Grant. While the money is provided by Metro, the grant process is administered by the City.

This grant window has $78,000 available for projects spearheaded by non-profit organizations. Those projects must meet at least one of the ten criteria to be considered. Some of those criteria include increasing recycling and reuse efforts, resulting in a reduction of solid waste, improving safety, enhancing art and culture, or enhancing new or existing natural zones and/or increasing the awareness and opportunities to enjoy them.

Applying entities must also have matching funds of their own to add to the effort. Those matches can take the form of money or in-kind. The match must be anywhere from 10% for the lowest amount able to be requested, $4,999 or below, to a 50% match for the largest amount that can be requested, which is between $40,000 and $74,999.

Other projects that received enhancement grant support recently include the Elemental Love art installation on 7th St. by the Arts Commission, the Greater Oregon City Watershed Council’s Abernethy Creek Riparian Restoration efforts, and a fentanyl awareness campaign by Oregon City Together.

The deadline to apply is Aug. 8 by 5 p.m. The application and guidelines can be found on the City’s website at orcity.news/enhancement-grant.
