[ARCHIVED] City Commission Passes Resolution Reaffirming Commitment To Vibrant, Safe Community For All

2025 Oregon City Commission

The Oregon City Commission passed resolution 25-39 during their regular meeting Wednesday, Dec. 17 to reconfirm the policies and standards that City has been operating under showing the commitment to ensuring the safety and dignity of all residents, and the City’s commitment to align with Oregon laws.

The goal of the resolution is to ensure that Oregon City remains a vibrant, welcoming place to all people, and that community members continue to feel safe here.

The ordinance reaffirms that “…personnel and resources of the City of Oregon City shall prioritize the enforcement of City of Oregon City ordinances and Oregon laws and that all City officials, including law enforcement officers, shall strive to protect the rights of individuals as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and the Oregon Constitution.”

Additionally the resolution also reaffirms that no City funds, personnel, equipment or facilities are used for Federal immigration enforcement, except where required by a valid judicial warrant.

The resolution was passed unanimously.
