Scholarships
Oregon City Parks and Recreation believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to participate in recreational activities. Financial needs-based scholarship assistance is available to qualifying individuals for swim lessons and camps. Our goal is to remove financial barriers for community members with limited resources. If you cannot afford the full activity fees, this program may help.
Eligibility
OCP&R offers scholarships for those who meet the Oregon City residency and income eligibility requirements.
Oregon City residents that are currently receiving assistance from government programs are likely eligible. Assistance programs include, but are not limited to, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Oregon City School District Federal Free/Reduced Lunch.
If you do not participate in these types of programs, you may qualify by providing proof of income in the form of the last two months paystubs or proof of unemployment or social security benefits.
Depending on income, scholarships range from 25% to 75% off of program fees, up to $150 maximum per person or $300 maximum per family each fiscal year (July 1 through June 30).
How It Works
Scholarship applications are accepted and processed quarterly. The application deadlines are shown above. If an application is received past the submission deadline, we will hold the application for the next registration cycle.
You will be notified via email or phone whether the application is approved or rejected. If approved, your registration account will be credited. If credits are not used within one year after the award date, they will be removed from your account. If you do not have an existing account with us, please visit Smart Rec to set one up. Scholarship credits issued are available for program or activity use only and will not be available as a cash refund.
Funds will be available for opening day of registration. You may register online, over the phone or in person. Scholarship awards do not guarantee availability in desired activities, so register as soon as you can!
Once approved, a scholarship is valid for one year. You may reapply yearly; renewal cannot be guaranteed as your household situation and funding availability may change or yearly maximums may have been met.
