Lifeguard Training
Participants must attend all **scheduled on-site classes** at Oregon City Swimming Pool. Bring a swimsuit, multiple towels, snacks and water. This course focuses on the job of a lifeguard in a swimming pool environment. Classes emphasize victim recognition, surveillance and equipment-based rescues; includes First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
PREREQUISITES– Participants must be at least 15 years old and must be able to: Swim continuously for 300 yards. Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only. Swim 20 yards to retrieve a 10-pound brick from 7 feet of water and return it to the surface in 1 minute and 40 seconds.
Babysitting Certification
Primarily for youth ages 11 and older, this course will prepare students to be better babysitters.
Topics include how to provide care for infants and children; how to stay safe; what to do in an emergency; how to choose age-appropriate activities; and how to recognize and handle a variety of behaviors. Students will also learn the basics of starting a babysitting business. This course, which includes a final exam at the end, takes about 6 hours to complete. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a printable certificate.
First Aid/CPR
Adult CPR/AED course equips students to recognize and care for a variety of breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults. Upon successful completion, a valid 2 year digital certificate for Adult CPR/AED is issued.
