2012 National Day of Remembrance

SpeakerOn Tuesday, September 25, 2012 Parents of Murdered Children (POMC) recognized the National Day of Remembrance to Honor Murdered Victims at Mountain View Cemetery. There was music, speakers, special tributes, a butterfly release, and a barbecue lunch. This year was a special event as it marked the groundbreaking of the Parents of Murdered Children Memorial Garden.

The Greater Portland Area Chapter of POMC is in the process of building their long-awaited, and much deserved, memorial. This will be the eighth memorial for homicide victims in the United States and the only one in the Northwest.

The organization is still actively fundraising and accepting donations to help pay for the engraving of names. To include the name of a homicide victim on the memorial wall, or for more information, you may contact Chapter Leader, Mary Elledge at 503-656-8039 or online.
