Public Information Officer (PIO)
There is a lot of information that must be communicated between the Oregon City Police Department and the public. While all of our officers and sergeants will talk with the media at different times, most of the information is relayed through our department's Public Information Officers (PIOs).

Accreditation
The Oregon City Police Department was recognized by the State of Oregon as the first Clackamas County Agency to become fully accredited on April 20, 2004. The Oregon Accreditation Alliance reevaluates an accredited agency every three years to ensure the department is following required policies and procedures.

The Oregon City Police Department recently added Drones/Unmanned Aerial Systems, (UAS), to aid in criminal investigations and search and rescue missions.

Safe Exchange Zones
To provide residents a safe location for private party transactions, including online purchases and for child custody transfers, Oregon City Police has created "Safe Exchange Zones" located at the Robert Libke Public Safety Building.

Statistical Transparency of Policing (STOP)
The STOP program stems from the 2017 Oregon Legislative Session, where HB 2355 was enacted and signed into law. This bill had two parts. One part changed the classification of certain drug crimes and the second part of the bill requires all Oregon Law Enforcement Agencies to collect certain data elements, to include race and gender, from officer-initiated pedestrian and vehicle stops.
