Permits

Public Works Development Services issues a number of permits at the Oregon City Operations Complex, 2nd Floor Counter located at 13895 Fir Street in Oregon City or through the land use process with Development Services' staff.

Subdivision / Partition / Site Plan Review

The plans are prepared by an Oregon licensed Professional Engineer. Approved plans are stamped by Oregon City and act as the permit.

Utility Extensions

The plans are prepared by an Oregon licensed Professional Engineer. Approved plans are stamped by Oregon City and act as the permit.

Utility Services

A plan should be prepared showing type of connection to main and proper pavement restoration per the Pavement Cut Standard. A Work in the Right-of-Way Permit is issued at the Public Works counter.

Erosion Control Permit

A plan should be prepared meeting Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) standards and City standards. A separate permit is issued at either the Public Works Counter or Building Division depending on the type of development. Visit the Erosion and Sediment Control page to learn more.

Grading Permit

A plan should be prepared per Title 15 of the City Code and Chapter 3 of the Stormwater and Grading Design Standards. A grading permit is issued at the Public Works Counter or with the Building Permit depending on the application. Visit the Grading Permit Application page to learn more.

Driveway Permit

A request can be made using the work in the right-of-way application. Standards should follow Chapters 12 and 16 of the City Code. A Work in the Right-of-Way Permit is issued at the Public Works Counter unless it is part of a larger request.

Sidewalk Permit

Temporary Obstruction in the Right-of-Way

A request can be made using the work in the right-of-way application. This is commonly used for staging dumpsters and outdoor seating. A Work in the Right-of-Way Permit is issued at the Public Works Counter unless it is part of a larger request. This permit is also used for parklets and sidewalk seating.

Permanent Obstruction in the Right-of-Way

A request can be made using the work in the right-of-way application. The City prefers to minimize the need for these permits when possible. A Work in the Right-of-Way Permit is issued at the Public Works Counter after approval from the City Commission. Proper insurance may be required.

Special Event

A request can be made using the work in the right-of-way application. A Work in the Right-of-Way Permit is issued at the Public Works Counter. Other documentation may be required. Learn more by visiting the Special Event Permit page.

Vacation

Vacations of rights-of-way and easements can be requested. The City prefers to minimize the need for these permits when possible. Easements can be vacated with the approval of the Public Works Director. Right-of-way vacations require City Commission approval. Other documentation may be required.
