LENA KLEMSEN RESIDENCE c.1917 -- Statement of Significance: Mrs. Lena Klemsen, born in Germany in 1861, was the wife of a saloon owner and liquor dealer, D.M. Klemsen (Klempson), who was also born in Germany. The Klemsens emigrated from Germany in the early 1880s, and lived in Iowa for a while, where their first son, Alfred, was born. They arrived in Oregon around 1890. This building is a typical Oregon City bungalow. Within the Canemah National Register Historic District, the building is classified as a Compatible structure.
