E. HENRY VONDERAHE RESIDENCE c.1895 -- Statement of Significance: E. Henry Vonderahe was born in Carus, Oregon. Vonderahe was the son of Oregon pioneers Fred and Louise Vonderahe, who established a donation land claim at Carus in 1851. Henry Vonderahe was a carpenter who built several fine residences with his brother Charles in the McLoughlin Neighborhood, including the Petzold House and the Andresen House. He also built many vernacular homes. Present owner Kate Carothers is the daughter of Henry Vonderahe.

Architecturally speaking, this house has retained much of its original features. Apparently, this house had more architectural detailing than the rest because its original owner was Henry Vonderahe.
