Art Contest For Oregon City Students

Thanks for your interest in the Art for Every Heart contest. The contest closed on June 4. Contest winner information will be posted here soon.

The Oregon City Arts Commission invites you to get creative! We are sponsoring a contest to illustrate our tagline, Art for Every Heart. Artwork should be original and may be of any medium – a painting, a photograph, a sculpture, or even a song or a dance. The contest is open to children and young adults who attend school in Oregon City, from kindergarten to 12th grade.

Artwork should reflect what the tagline Art for Every Heart means to the artist. We will award prizes between $300 and $500. Members of the Oregon City Arts Commission will be the judges.

We will recognize the winners at the Arts Commission 6 x 6 Art Show on June 14, 2025. (A free public event.) Winning artwork will serve as the Oregon City Arts Commission illustrated tagline for one year and will be displayed on our website along with a photo of the artist(s).

How Do I Enter the Contest?

Almost anything goes! Students may produce a new piece of art or submit an existing piece of art that fits the criteria. You may share a piece of visual art like a painting, or a three-dimensional artwork, like a sculpture. You can even write a song or create a dance! How do you express your feelings through your art?

You may incorporate the words “Art for Every Heart” in your artwork or create something that illustrates your thoughts and emotions when you read that phrase.

Prizes

The Arts Commission is offering prizes in two categories:

1) Best Visual Representation

For the Best Visual Representation/Illustration of our tag line “Art for Every Heart,” we will award three prizes:

1st prize - $500 | 2nd prize - $300 | 3rd prize - $200

2) Best Artistic Response

We will also share three prizes for the best overall artistic responses:

1st prize - $500 | 2nd prize - $300 | 3rd prize - $200

The students who submit the top three submissions will have the opportunity to bring in the actual piece of art for display at the Oregon City Public Library.

Please tell us your name, age, grade, and where you go to school. We also want to learn about your artwork: what kind of art you created (the “medium”), the title of artwork, and its dimensions (how tall, how wide, how thick).

Good luck and get creative!
