The Building Department Office is open for walk-in customers with limited services from 9 am to 4 pm. Monday through Thursday. We deliver all services including answering general questions over the phone at 503-722-3789 or those emailed to the Building Department.

Next-day inspections can be requested through the online IVR system up until midnight the day before. Follow the 'Inspections' tab on the right side of this page for further instructions.

In order to expedite the review of permits, a majority of applications will only be accepted electronically, view the Electronic Submittals procedures (PDF). Please email applications and plans to Building Department and attach the items as .pdf documents. In-person submittal is only allowed for residential property owners for the following permit types:

  • Accessory Structures
  • Decks
  • Patio/Porch Covers
  • Demolition
  • Reroof

Applications shall be submitted via email to the Building Department. Please note our submittal process and guidelines, which can be found in the applications/forms. We will continue delivering all services including answering general questions over the phone (at 503-722-3789) and over via the Building Department email.

Paying for Permits

Customers may pay their permit fees using any of the options below. 

(Your local building and planning departments will not request you send money to them via wire transfer. If you do receive such a request, always validate the request by contacting the requesting authority directly before sending any payment.) 

Anytime:

  • By check via mail and addressed to PO Box 3040, Oregon City OR, 97045.
  • Electronically via EnerGov through a module called CSS (Customer Self Service) which has no monetary maximum limit. (NOTE: There is a non-refundable processing fee charged by the third-party operator of the software.
  • By check via USPS to:
