CASPER WEISMANDEL RESIDENCE c.1900 -- Statement of Significance: Casper Weismandel was born in Germany (1846) and came to the United States via the Isthmus of Panama. He established a homestead in the Macksburg area, where he farmed until he moved to Oregon City around 1900. The house was built by E. Henry Vonderahe, a local carpenter. The house is missing some parts of its original carpenter treatments. In general, though, it remains a pretty, well-maintained vernacular home. Built by Vonderahe, a local carpenter and son-in-law of the original owner, this house is indeed typical of the Buena Vista area.
