MARY R. CAUFIELD HOUSE c.1898 -- Statement of Significance: No specific biographical information was found on Mary R. Caufield, but most probably she was related in some way to the very prominent Caufield family of Oregon City (banking, politics, law, etc.).
This house is definitely older than the surrounding structures. Before the construction of the school building, the site undoubtedly afforded the inhabitant a pleasant view of the hills across the Willamette River. The yard accompanying this house is larger than those in the surrounding neighborhood and has several mature fruit trees and a barn-like structure facing 10th Street. The house is significant for its age and architecture.
