JOHN O. STAATS HOUSE -- Statement of Significance: This house was reportedly constructed on behalf of John O. Staats at another site. The house was moved to this property sometime between 1911 and 1925.

The tiny house at 315 Jefferson Street was built around 1887. The footprint is rectangular and side gabled. The pitch of the gable is broken to cover the front portion of the house, which includes a recessed porch. The porch posts are slender and chamfered, with elegant articulated capitals. The front door has a corniced molding. A small shed roofed bay with exposed rafter tails is attached to the northeast side of the building. The exterior cladding is channel drop siding. Windows are 1/1 wood double-hung. A small outbuilding with a gabled roof and channel-drop siding lies off the north corner of the house.

This property is a locally designated historic site located within the McLoughlin Conservation District. Contact ocplanning@orcity.org for more information.
