MCCORD REST HOME c.1950 -- Statement of Significance: This structure was built as a nursing home - McCord's Home for the Aged (also known as the McCord Rest Home) - by Helen McCord, sister of Florence Turner. Helen McCord was the daughter of William McCord, a steamboat captain who held a donation land claim in the area above Canemah. The structure has some significance because of its somewhat faint relation to William McCord (long dead when it was built) and because it was built and operated as a retirement home in a residential neighborhood. In the Canemah NR District, the building is classified as a Compatible structure.
