E.M. HOWELL RENTAL c.1920 -- Statement of Significance: The title to this house is unclear: E.M. Howell (712 12th Street) was a real estate investor in later life, and he and his wife, Ann, held title to the property until it was sold to the present owner's relatives, George and Geraldine Turner, in 1941. However, the current owner claims a Bill Gold built a small house on the property in the early 1920s. Gold was a boxer. The house may have some interest because of its association with E.M. Howell, a prominent Oregon City businessman. In the Canemah NR District, the house is classified as a Compatible structure.
