405 4th Avenue

MAXWELL TELFORD SR. RESIDENCE c.1890 -- Statement of Significance: Maxine Telford has referred to a house her grandparents lived in as the "pink house" which was somewhere in Canemah. She never knew its location, and only heard of it through family references. It was in the pink house that her paternal grandparents lived when they came here from Scotland. After their son, Maxwell Telford, had already established himself and his family here. His father, also Maxwell Telford, had been a shepherd in Scotland. He and his wife lived together until his death in 1900 at the age of 89 years. She then moved into her son's house on 5th Avenue in Canemah. The house is significant for its age and possible association with the Telford family.
