C.D. DICKERSON RESIDENCE C.1903 -- Statement of Significance: C.D. Dickerson was a "$4 a day man" who worked for the woolen mills as a "boss" carpenter. He was born in Missouri, and with this younger brother, came around Cape Horn to settle in Oregon. He married Sarah Clear in 1882. They separated around the time the house was built just after the turn of the century. Sarah, who was employed in the (Oregon City) Mount Brothers Hospital as a "practical nurse" built this house with her son, Arthur, a marine engineer, who later brought his wife, Beatrice, to live here. C.D. died in 1931, and Sarah in 1932. The house is one of the few two-story houses with hipped roofs in the Oregon City area. In the NR District, the house is a Secondary structure.
