E.B. FELLOWS HOUSE c.1867 -- Statement of Significance: E.B. Fellows, born in Ohio in 1836, was an engineer in Canemah. In 1859 he married Elvira Thomas, who was born in Missouri. They had a son, Albert. His brother, Hiram, was a logger on the Willamette River, who married Clarissa Wilcox, a daughter of 1847 pioneer Joel Wilcox. Hiram settled on a donation land claim in Highland near Oregon City. The largest and one of the few examples of Gothic Revival architecture in Oregon City, this building has major significance within the City and the neighborhood. It is the only example of Gothic Revival in Canemah, and is a prominent landmark due to its size, site and restoration. It is also significant for its association with Fellows.
