AUGUST AND MAY RAKEL RESIDENCE c.1905 -- Statement of Significance: Fred Rakel, August Rakel's father, was an employee in the Oregon City Woolen Mills. He was a native of Hanover, Germany, and arrived in the United States in 1876 at the age of 32. His wife, Dora, was born in Brunswick in 1854, and was married to Rakel prior to their emigration to this country. The house is a typical Oregon City bungalow. It has some significance for its association with the Rakels, long-time Canemah residents.
